Yahoo! BB ADSL ID Requirements

Before connection of Yahoo! BB ADSL without NTT Telephone Service, Identification Documentation (ID) must be submitted.

Applicants who are not Japanese citizens must supply an enlarged (140%) copy of an Alien Registration Certificate (ARC or 'gaijin card'). No other documentation is accepted. You must submit copies of both the front and back sides of your ARC (even if the back side is blank).

The ID must bear the address where Yahoo! BB is to be installed, a minimum of three months remaining visa period and an age of at least 20 years. If age is 18 or 19, then ID of a parent must also be provided.

*If You Don't Have an ARC ('gaijin card') . . .

• And you cannot get one because you are in Japan with:
  • Diplomatic Status or
  • SOFA Status (military or civilian)
• Or, if you do have a visa and have applied for an ARC but you don't want to wait 3 or 4 weeks for the ARC and then another 3 to 6 weeks for the connection . . .

Then (if either of the above is true) you should consider applying instead for Yahoo! BB and NTT phone service because, for such service, the ID is checked by NTT instead of Yahoo! BB and, for NTT, an ARC is not required--various documents may be used instead. Also, the processing is faster--generally just one or two weeks.
