*DETAILS: In the NTT East area, residents of Tokyo, Kanagawa including Yokohama, Chiba, Saitama and Hokkaido get two months free. Residents of other prefectures in the NTT East area get one month free. In the NTT West area, the benefit is one month in Osaka, Hyogo, Shizuoka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Hiroshima & Aichi prefectures. In other West Japan areas the benefit is a portion of one month. There is no minimum contract period but in Eastern Japan, if you receive the free connection benefit and discontinue using the service within 12 months, you will be billed for an early disconnection fee of ¥8,500 unless you continue using a Flet's Hikari service at your new residence. If Flet's Hikari is not offered at the new location, you can fulfill the usage requirement by using Flet's ADSL instead. In Western Japan, the rule is that you are billed for the full connection fee if you discontinue the service within 15 months. Additionally, in Western Japan (only), some applicants will be billed ¥3,675 connection fee on the 1st month's bill (and the early disconnection fee reduced by the same amount). In the Availability Report, you will be informed of the full cost of the services that will apply at your location. Note that this is neither official nor complete info from the companies offering service. Please see the "fine print" link below for more info.
