Overview of Flet's ADSL with OCN

Flet's ADSL service uses NTT's legacy metal phone wiring system. Services are available up to 47M but not all speeds are available in all areas.

Connections may be made on lines with or without working NTT telephone service. ADSL on lines with working phone service is called Type 1 and those without working telephone service are called Type 2.

The expectation that many have that Type 2 will be much cheaper is, in fact, not correct. Either way, the overall cost is about the same. To compare prices, see the Flet's ADSL Prices page.

Connections generally take one to two weeks from the time your application is complete (i.e., from the point that you have provided all the needed info including ID documentation.)

IP Phone Service

Flet's ADSL may also be used with or without OCN's "Dot Phone" (IP phone) but, oddly, the total service cost is higher if you don't include Dot Phone in the services you order. For this reason, we include Dot Phone service in all Flet's ADSL orders whether you request it or not.

If you would prefer to not have Dot Phone and don't mind paying the higher rate (¥735/month), add this comment to your application form: "No IP phone please, I'll pay the highter rate."

Advantages of Dot Phone: Calling rate is lowest of standard services (basically, all calls within Japan are 'local'). You get an '050' number which your associates may use to get a lower rate when calling you.
